    FSEM 100

This course is a first year seminar on globalization.  The tools of social software are particularly useful in a first year seminar since they prompt students to think about what does this all mean.  In this course, I use:

    • A blog as the course website
    • Individual blogs for student reflection (see the Blogroll on the right sidebar of the course website).  Students used blogreaders to follow their classmates’ blogs which were syndicated by RSS.
    • A wiki as a scratchpad for first drafts and other tentative thinking in the course.
    • Social bookmarking to keep track of interesting resources we found (see the list of articles under the Del.icio.us heading on the right sidebar of the course website).
    • Flickr – In an early assignment, students were asked to find an image on flickr which illustrates their conception of globalization.
