    Social Bookmarking

    What is social bookmarking?

Social bookmarking software allows you to create lists of annotated bookmarks, which you can label with keywords or tags. The tags are searchable and social: when you search, you not only obtain websites you’ve bookmarked with specific tags, but also those that everyone has bookmarked.

    Uses of Social Bookmarking:

    • Keep track of web resources relevant to each course you teach.
    • Keep track of web resources on topics of interest for your research or teaching.

Example: On the bottom half of the right sidebar of many pages on this blog is an RSS feed of items tagged with the topic of the page.  The Social Software page has a feed of items tagged ‘social software’.  The complete listing can be found at .  Similarly, the Blog page has a feed of items tagged ‘blogs’, with the complete listing at .
